Sophrology
Anti-stress exercise
IRTER: Inhale – Retain – Tighten – Exhale – Relax
This exercise promotes the release of stress, anxiety, or fear and stimulates willpower.
Instructions
Inhale deeply through your nose, expanding your belly.
Hold your breath for a few moments while contracting all the muscles of your body from head to toe.
Focus on the sensation of accumulated tension, as if you were gathering all your stress, anxiety, or fears into a single point.
Relax all your muscles by exhaling forcefully through your mouth. Imagine all these emotions leaving your body with the exhalation. Notice the deep sense of release.
Resume natural breathing and perceive the calm gradually settling within you.
Repeat this sequence three times to let go all negative emotions.
